A tale of Rock Island romance.
This Augustana Special Collections exhibit follows the lives and relationships of three early Augustana students: Lydia Olsson, Ethel Pearson, and Netta Bartholomew Anderson. Each woman left behind some record of her time at the college, including diaries, letters, and scrapbooks. These materials were enhanced by a few surviving photographs and biographical details, many of which were taken from yearbooks and student catalogs. The goal of the exhibit was to highlight early female students’ experiences at Augustana College.
In honor of Valentine’s Day, we held a tea party to officially open the exhibit. Additional materials from the collections were set out on tables for guests to look through.
